Today I came earlier from work and it didn’t feel right to stay in the house. I wanted to do a walk in the nearest park even if the weather was all wet. Fog and rain, cold temperatures, you know, just the ordinary in November. As I was going out, I met a neighbor who asked me where I was going. In the park for a walk, I answered. On this weather, are you sure? He asked with the expression of someone who couldn’t believe what he’s hearing. Well, I don’t want to stay in the house, I said. You should wait for the sun to come, you don’t want to risk a flu, he said while the elevator doors closed behind him. I stood there and think at what he said…and I started to look at that from a different angle than his. For him, the rain was an obstacle but one created by himself. If I want something, as little as a walk in the park, I can’t let the weather to dictate that for me. It’s true, in any circumstances we will meet factors that we need to deal with, in order to continue our journey. But the thing is, we need to break those barriers not to stop in front of them. We can’t just wait for the right opportunity to come so we can change something in our lives. I don’t want to wait the sun so I can go outside.
A good quote that fits the scenario is “Where is a wall, built a door”. Sometimes you can get a “flu”, you will run some risks, but they all make part of the deal. Who said that everything will be easy, perfect, suitable or right? There’s a balance in life. It can’t be all good or all bad. But don’t let the bad stops you from seeing the good. If you want something go and get it! If you don’t have an umbrella go and buy one, but don’t stop because it’s rainy!
